Fibre United will expand to Korea in 2017

​(3 October 2016) - UPM Pulp and Canfor Pulp’s sales and marketing cooperation Fibre United will expand to Korea, where both companies already are present.

Starting in January 2017, under the leadership of Jackie Yoo, President Canfor Korea Ltd, the Canfor Korea office will represent and co-market UPM pulps in Korea, thereby including the world’s 5th largest pulp market in the Fibre United cooperation.

Fibre United was launched in 2014, and ever since, UPM’s Pulp sales network has represented and co-marketed Canfor Pulp in Europe and China, while Canfor Pulp’s sales network has done the same for UPM Pulp in North America and Japan.

UPM Pulp operates four world class modern pulp mills – three in Finland and one in Uruguay – producing Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft, Northern Bleached Birch Kraft and Bleached Eucalyptus Kraft with a combined annual production capacity of 3.5 million tonnes. UPM Pulp employs altogether 1,500 people and has sales and technical customer service teams located in our main markets in Mannheim, Germany, and Shanghai, China, which team also serves our Korean customers.

Canfor Pulp operates three world class modern pulp mills in Prince George BC producing 1.1 million tonnes annually of Premium Reinforcing NBSK and Specialty UBK Pulps. Canfor Pulp also produces 210,000 tonnes per year of Bleached Chemical Thermo Mechanical Pulp from the Canfor Pulp Taylor mill in Taylor BC. Pulp sales are supported through Canfor Pulp Innovation who provides superior technical service.
