Our approach
Forest certifications and ecolabel approvals
We promote all credible forest certification schemes and relevant third-party ecolabels worldwide. UPM pulps are available as PEFC™ or FSC® certified on customer request and subject to availability. Our pulps can also be used in paper products with the EU Ecolabel and Nordic Ecolabel accreditation.
Verified and transparent information about our products and mills
All our pulp mills are certified to ISO14001 and to EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) standards. According to requirements of EMAS, an Environmental Statement is published for each pulp mill together with the corporate statement. We also publish third party verified Environmental Product Declarations and Carbon Footprint Information for pulp.
UPM includes sustainability reporting in its own third party assured Annual Report which follows the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) framework.
