The UPM Fray Bentos mill began operations in Fray Bentos, Uruguay, in 2007. Located on the banks of the River Uruguay, the mill produces bleached hardwood eucalyptus pulp. The pulp is transported to the deep-sea port of Nueva Palmira by river barge to be loaded onto transatlantic vessels bound for Europe and Asia.
