We grow and harvest wood to create renewable and sustainable products and materials - innovations that offer alternatives to fossil materials.

In order to meet the demands of a growing population and provide products for a bio-based future beyond fossils, we are committed to providing high quality sustainably made pulp made from natural and renewable resources.

And while we produce pulp, we focus on creating value for society both as a company and through our pulp products and the side products generated during the pulp production process. We do this by actively seeking sustainable solutions in co-operation with our customers, suppliers and partners. We also promote responsible business practices by demanding the high standards set for ourselves throughout our value chain.

As our customers face ever-increasing demands for better transparency, more sustainable options, and better ways of doing things, we are committed to helping to create these new solutions and providing the answers that our customers need.

Our commitments

Our actions in the areas of economic, social and environmental responsibility are guided by the UPM-wide sustainability targets and focus areas for 2030 that themselves are born out of a commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (‘SDGs’).

We focus our efforts on the goals where we can have the biggest positive impact through our operations, products and solutions, or where we can minimise our negative impact.
