Benefits of UPM Betula northern bleached hardwood kraft pulp

Lower refining energy consumption

UPM Betula requires relatively low refining energy to reach optimum performance. Its excellent refinability supports efficient operations, particularly in products that normally require extensive refining.

Cost-efficient softwood substitution

UPM Betula can substitute softwood pulp while maintaining good strength values and a compact structure, enabling efficient furnish optimization and cost-effective production.

Exceptionally low porosity

Barrier papers such as food wrappers that require low porosity levels are especially good fit for UPM Betula.

Northern birch pulp engineered for performance

UPM Betula fibres are short and thin-walled, providing very high tensile strength for several paper applications. Birch fibres are longer than eucalyptus fibres, yet shorter than softwood fibres.

Birch has a high hemicellulose content compared to many other pulp grades, giving the fibres natural stiffness, strength and easy refinability.

UPM Betula is a bright, premium-grade fibre which requires low refining energy. It rapidly develops tensile strength, bonding, high density and very low porosity.

The naturally strong fibres of UPM Betula provide an efficient solution for optimizing your furnish and enhancing product quality without compromising production performance.
